Hampton Inn & Suites LAX El Segundo

Destination Guides - Los Angeles, Hotel Reviews

Before we start I need to let you into a little secret. I have cheated on my long term relationship with my normal Los Angles Airport Hotel, the Aloft El Segundo – Los Angles Airport. And it wasn’t a one night stand with Hampton Inn & Suites LAX El Segundo – it was a full seven nights.

Before we start I need to let you into a little secret. I have cheated on my long term relationship with my normal Los Angles Airport Hotel, the Aloft El Segundo – Los Angeles Airport. And it wasn’t a one night stand with Hampton Inn & Suites LAX El Segundo – it was a full seven nights.

It was time for a change on this trip after more than a few issues with the aforementioned hotel last year which included the TV not working, toiletries not replenished in the bathroom being the top issues.

The Hampton Inn & Suites LAX El Segundo is just up the road from the Aloft El Segundo – Los Angles Airport and was already only radar. On this occasion it was price competitive so I thought I would give it a go. I was glad I did.

Whilst there are bus stops right outside the hotel which connect you to the LAX City Bus Center, Manhattan Beach and Long Beach, I actually hopped in a cab from the airport to the hotel. Uber is a bit of a nightmare at LAX and although the cab fare was $20 it was well worth it as the journey from LAX to the hotel took just under 10 minutes. It is worth noting at this point that the  hotel does not have an airport shuttle like many others in the area.

Check in was swift and very friendly as were all the staff during my stay. My request for a high floor room overlooking Pacific Coast Highway was also honored which left me very happy.

My room was huge, the bed was very comfortable and the TV had a good choice of channels. I was very glad of this as for two days during my stay the weather was awful. There was also a nice desk to work at and plenty of power sockets and charging points too. Bathroom was of a good size and the shower was lovely.

The hotel offers free breakfast which was useful for keeping costs down and there was a plentiful supply of coffee and tea all day too. I also took advantage of ‘Happy Hour’ in the hotel bar most evenings where a glass of wine was a mere $5!!!!!

The hotel does do food at night but there are numerous restaurants, coffee shops and a Ralph’s Supermarket all within a 10 minute walk so choices a plenty when you want to eat.

The hotel also has an indoor pool and a fitness center but there’s limited space outside to enjoy the Los Angeles sunshine. That didn’t matter on this trip but is worth considering if you want to sit out in the sunshine in summer months.

All in all this was a nice hotel for a winter trip to Los Angeles.
